About Us

Our
Story
Steering Positive Minds CIC has been spearheaded by a Northern Ireland family involved in motorsport for many years who have both personal and professional experience of the impact of mental ill health. Fueled by compassion and empathy. Who reached out to friends, colleagues, the motorsport community and Mental health organisations to commence the journey to focus on Mental health within the motorsport community and beyond and create a mental health ethos in Motorsport. We are a 'Non-Profit' volunteer led organisation funded through donations. We have introduced some merchandise for your to consider purchasing to contribute to supporting our function.

Motorsport clubs, Teams, Manufacturers and Circuits in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland recognise the importance of good mental health in their community, however, there has been little dedicated support or accessible resources. The cohesive spirit of the motorsport is fantastic, with so many mental health and wellbeing benefits. We seen this as the perfect environment to nurture our motorsport community and break the stigma around mental health, fostering a network of support in our motorsport community.

Motorsport is particularly male dominated and it is well researched and documented that men can find it difficult to speak out or seek help when they need it. Alarmingly:

''SUICIDE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH OF YOUNG ADULTS UNDER 35 YEARS OF AGE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM''.

Our vision is to expand across all motorsport disciplines. We have our first Ambassador in our rally discipline competing in the Mental Health and crisis intervention livery, however we wish to develop our Ambassador network to include the other racing disciplines who will compete in our livery. We intend to focus on the needs of our community with programs of support to best meet their needs.

Together we can break the stigma and provide a strong mental health ethos among motorsport in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Physical and mental health are interrelated. Our physical health can impact our mental health and vice versa. You will see a lot of information on our social media addressing both for this very reason.
We are not experts and mental illnesses are best treated by professionals with the expertise to support you. However, we endeavor to empower you with the knowledge, skills, peer support and appropriate resources and organisations to access if you have mental health challenges.
